Signature Tour  -  July 5 - 16, 2008

Columbia LakeThe Rocky Mountains of northwest Montana will take your breath away. Though less lofty than the great ranges of Colorado, their stark crags soar above the plains, silhouetted against the Big Sky. And everybody knows that great mountains make for great motorcycling roads. This part of North America is so big, and so beautiful, that we're giving our riders some extra time to experience it in the most exciting way possible - on a motorcycle. This tour is TEN riding days! We'll leave Spokane, Washington and ride east through the Idaho panhandle, taking in Coeur D'Alene’s beautiful blue lake, and through the Cabinet Range via delightful back roads. We’re soon greeted by more water, this time the serene turquoise of Flathead Lake, just south of Glacier National Park.

The astonishing Going-To-The-Sun Highway in Glacier National Park fires us right through the Montana Rockies, where we head north into Canada through Waterton Glacier International Peace Park. This is Alberta’s Kananaskis country, chosen for the 2002 G8 summit for its remoteness and scenery. Canada feels like home, but with enough differences to make it interesting. We’ll sample legendary Canadian hospitality and friendliness in the beautiful ski resorts of Banff and Lake Louise while exploring Banff and Yoho National Parks. Riding west, we’ll head back through the Rockies into British Columbia, one of the best kept secrets in North America. Lake LouiseOur route will track the old Canadian Pacific Railroad, which opened up this wilderness area little more than a century ago. Even now the communities are few and far between; railroad towns and resorts set against the stark majesty of the snowcapped Selkirk Range. Turning south, we’ll take in BC’s wine region, the Okanagan valley. Vineyards and resort towns line Okanagan Lake with lively cafes, fun casual dining and robust nightlife.

We’ll ride wonderful winding roads through the Monashee and the Kootenay ranges where some of the most beautiful unspoiled forests, lakes and glaciers anywhere will awe and inspire you.

The town of Nelson, Queen of the Kootenays (and setting for the Steve Martin movie Roxanne) has a funky street vibe, live music bars and myriad restaurants.

Surrounded by towering trees and steep hillsides, Kootenay Lake has North America’s longest free ferry and seductive switchback lakeside roads. Our route south back to Spokane takes us over the starkly beautiful Kootenay Summit and the delightful backwoods highways of Northeast Washington State.
